Creating Baby Shower Invitations Is As Much Fun As the Shower Itself

Posted by admin on Jul 18, 2009

Having a baby is one of those wonderful life experiences that we cannot wait to share with our family and friends. You will want to make sure that your baby shower invitations convey your joy and your desire to include everyone you love in the experience. There are as many types of baby shower invitations as there are types of parents, and planning and creating them can be great fun.

Many planners like to tie the baby shower invitations theme in with the mood and theme of the shower itself. Your invitations can ask guests to provide advice for the new parents and be in the shape of a bassinette, bib or blocks, whatever you like. You may also choose to go green and not send paper baby shower invitations at all, substituting them with electronic invitations instead. Baby shower invitations worded with poems have become a quite popular format. The poems can be silly or sentimental, your choice. They are a fun way to convey your friendship and love for the mother to be. After all, baby showers are all about fun.

You can also incorporate the interests of the expectant couple into the baby shower invitations. Creating the invitations can be just as much fun as the shower itself. Use your imagination as your guide. Or, if you are pressed for time or do not have much of a creative streak, you can hire a calligrapher to prepare the baby shower invitations. Beautifully hand written baby shower invitations make a wonderful keepsake.

Certain information should be conveyed by the baby shower invitations, no matter what the format. Include the names of the expectant mother and host or hosts, shower location, date and time, directions, contact information for responses and questions, baby registry, shower theme and dress. Make sure you also plan for enough time to either order or prepare your baby shower invitations and mail them out well in advance of the shower date. You should send them out around two months in advance of the shower and allow guests two weeks to respond. Then you will have enough lead time to invite others who may be on a back up guest list and give either your shower caterer or yourself a head count.

No matter what form they take, baby shower invitations are an invitation to good times and good memories. Have fun.

What most people neglect is image resolution. You have probably seen several photo birth announcements printed at home using the above mentioned setup wherein the photo leaves a lot to be desired in terms of clarity. The most common culprit in such situations is a photo taken or printed at too low a resolution. It is important to take pictures or scan them at a sufficient resolution that allows for maximum clarity. You certainly don’t want to use too high a resolution as that will take up too much disk space unnecessarily and may even slow down your computer.

Pictures are simply a lot more effective at conveying how your child looks than even the most flowery message. You could write whole volumes describing how your child looks, but they simply won’t do as good a job as a simple photo can. Besides, you wont have nearly enough space in the typical birth announcement to describe just how precious your little tyke is!

You don’t actually need very much in order to create your photo birth announcements at home, with a standard computer, printer and the necessary software being more than enough to do a good job. That being said, there are quite a few technical considerations to keep in mind, most of them having to do with how well the photo is reproduced.

What most people neglect is image resolution.

Once upon a time, the arrival of a new family member was shared with the help of prepackaged, preprinted birth announcements that came in limited design choices. They were pretty, but not very special. However, parents today can choose from either the traditional preprinted birth announcement or the literally hundreds of unique designs that are available online.

Etiquette dictates that formal birth announcements be sent to family and friends by regular postal service delivery, not email. After all, who wants to hang an email message on their refrigerator.
